Working Title Student Support Services Administrative Support
Location This position is stationed at the 1st desk in the Student Life Center or Center for Student Success, and is the front-line person for customer service and administrating support in the department.
Duties 1. Desire to learn and willingness to attend meetings and training as needed to learn job duties and growth as a leader. 2. Greet visitors to space and assist staff in providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. 3. Provide support to students and staff in the center. 4. Answer questions or direct visitors to appropriate staff for assistance. 5. Answer basic questions about student life, clubs and organizations, and campus activities. 6. Answer basic questions about student support services such as TRIO and tutoring. 7. Provide basic support for technology (e.g., accessing wi-fi, logging on to computers, printing, accessing D2L and e-services). 8. Maintain cleanliness or space and stock of supplies (e.g., fill printer paper, clean workspaces after use) 9. Complete data entry for the Food Pantry, Student Life, and other Student Affairs functions. 10. Complete the tasks on the daily and weekly checklist. 11. Monitor Student Ambassador group chat on Team’s and ensure tasks are complete. 12. Serve as back-up support for the Food Pantry, including driving to pick up food, being available for food drop-offs, and support the stocking and organizing for the Food Pantry. 13. Support phone calling campaigns as needed. 14. Attend Student Senate Meetings. 15. Be a member of at least one club or organization. 16. Other duties as assigned to support the Student Affairs Division and college. Center for Student Success Specific Duties 17. Maintain positive, professional environment conducive to studying and tutoring appointments. Ensure noise level remains low (group studying is permitted). 18. Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and prospective students and families who enter the space. 19. Greet visitors upon entry. Help direct students to appropriate staff for appointments, answer general lab questions, direct students to other support resources around campus, and help students make appointments with college staff in Starfish 20. Provide equipment (headphones, etc.) for check-out; answer basic computer and campus software (D2L, eServices, Starfish, etc.) questions for students and/or refer out 21. Maintain FERPA data privacy requirements 22. Assist with hosting CSS and TRIO events such as study tables, bootcamps, Lunch & Learns, etc. 23. Print ID cards for DCTC students, faculty, and staff. 24. Help ensure CSS is stocked with office supplies; maintain paper levels in printer. 25. Lead by example and serve as a role model for other students. 26. Assist other college staff with projects and activities by request/with supervisor approval. Student Life Center Specific Duties 27. Unlock space at 8AM and lock space at 4PM. 28. Help with campus events and activities. 29. Provide support to clubs and club advisors as directed. 30. Ensure the Blue Knights Bulletin is posted each week.
Qualifications Position Condition • Student Worker/Work Study 1. Has previous work experience. 2. Is involved in clubs and organizations on campus. 3. Has experience utilizing student support services (such as TRIO & Tutoring). 4. Is organized. 5. Has strong computer skills 6. Has good working relationships with employees and other students. 7. Desires to provide a welcoming and inclusive campus community for all students. 8. Is able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. 9. Has a high level of attention to detail 10. Is able to work independently and follow through with minimal supervision. 11. Is committed to personal growth and has demonstrated growth. 12. Desires to grow in leadership skills. 13. Desires to grow in knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, belonging, and access and has demonstrated growth in these areas. 14. Has a driver’s license and the ability to pass a driving background check. Preferred Program Administrative Support or Business-Related programs is a plus, but not required.
Work Schedule Up to 20 hours (depend on eligibility and department needs) Monday-Friday, between the hours 7:30am-4pm.
